Volunteering – ah the stigmas attached to that word. You’re probably thinking that you’ll have to sift through jumble in a charity shop, help at a coffee morning, that sort of thing, right?

Well, and brace yourself, there’s A LOT more on offer than that, and the SRC is here to help.

Why get involved?

Good question. Well, just have a think about why you came to University in the first place. Go on…

• To get a degree?

I’m sure there’s more to it than that…

• To meet new people?
• To have a laugh?
• To better your job prospects?
• To experience something different?

That’s better. And volunteering with the SRC can help you to do all of these and allow you to make a difference in your local community, whilst at the same time building your employability skills. More and more employers are looking for evidence of graduates who have been involved in student life beyond their academic study, and this great way to gain that experience.

You’ll also no longer need to feel stuck in the “West End Bubble”.
